In a new interview with Glamour, Sydney Sweeney called out the paparazzi who are going to extraordinary lengths to obtain bikini photos of the Anyone But You star.
Sweeney, 27, has been open about embracing her body, noting in this latest interview that her own grandparents informed her she has “the best tits in Hollywood.” But as her star has risen, some have misinterpreted her comfort with her own body and taken things a bit too far. She recalled with some horror that paparazzi even tried to bribe her family members into setting her up for a cheesecake photo opp.
“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone,'” Sweeney explained. Though she didn’t specify the date of the photos, she’s likely referring to widely circulated shots which showed her riding a banana boat with family members.
The Madame Web star went on to dismiss claims that she called the paparazzi on herself. “Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard?” she asked rhetorically. “Why would I ever want that?” asked Sweeney.
Noting that her well-being is increasingly “at risk,” Sweeney said, “I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe,” she continued.
The point at which the photos were actually published marked the moment at which “my actual safety is at risk,” Sweeney warned. “Everyone knows where I am. Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”
Amidst all of the negative attention from some people, Sweeney takes much pride in the fact that she can help other women feel secure in their own bodies. “That means a lot to me because I really believe in empowering others and feeling powerful with your body and embracing your sexuality,” she said. “And if you have boobs, great. Flaunt them.”
