On an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Hough, 36, reflected on previous relationships, and recalled happy memories with some of her exes.When asked about her favorite first date she's been on, Hough remembered a time when a man took her to Santa Monica Pier. Though the famed restaurant is frequented by celebrities, the two made sure they had an intimate meal. "It was private," Hough added. At the time, Hough was rising to household name status as a regular on Dancing With The Stars and starring in films like Safe Harbor. Meanwhile, Seacrest had been hosting American Idol since 2001.On Armchair Expert, Hough implied that her and Seacrest's different levels of fame led to them breaking up."I had this insecurity that I was like, 'I don't ever want anybody to think that I'm with him for this reason,'" she said. "And so I then started playing smaller. I know that that was his experience in past situations and stuff, and so I again overcompensated, [I] was malleable to fit into exactly what somebody needed me to be for them to be happy."Following their relationship, Hough began dating NHL Player Brooks Laich, who was with the Washington Capitols at the time. The two married in 2017 and divorced in 2022.On her own accord, Hough has starred in several movies and TV shows, guest judged on talent competitions, and even recorded music. Having worn many hats, some people may be confused about what Hough does for a living, but she is certainly proud of her impressive resume, as she shared on Watch What Happens Live."People are like, 'What does she do, does she dance, is she a singer, is she an actor, what does she do?' But I think I'm a storyteller," Hough said. "And I think by nature, everything that I do is storytelling whether it's through my body or through my voice or through my acting."

Hough and Seacrest dated from 2010 to 2013. In an interview on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast earlier this month, Hough spoke about their past relationship.
