Their rekindled romance was hailed as one of Hollywood’s fairy tales.

But now Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are heading for divorce and those close to the Oscar winning star have claimed the straw that broke the camel’s back, was when she launched her own alcohol brand – knowing that he was a recovering alcoholic.

According to The Mail, Jennifer’s cocktail range titled Delola, which comprises of vodka and tequila, was allegedly insulting to the actor as he tried to maintain his sobriety. It has also been alleged that Jennifer, better known as JLo, wanted to expand her empire – gaining more wealth. Ben sought help for his addiction to alcohol back in 2001 and has since been in and out of rehab to combat his addiction. And it was his battle with booze that contributed to the downfall of his marriage to Jennifer Garner. However, JLo then went on a promotional tour for the brand, where she publicly told the media that she likes to drink as it helps her “relax and let loose.”

According to reports, Ben is said to have felt that the singer and mum of two was “rubbing his face in it” and that made him feel “sick.” A friend of Ben told the publication: “Ben had to fight to get his life back after overcoming alcohol. Knowing how he lost everything including the love of his family, knowing that he could possibly relapse, Jen decided to start her own spritzer line for more money, as if she did not have enough. This was one of the things that broke the camel’s back. But Ben saved his sobriety.”

It’s expected that Jennifer and Ben will file divorce paperwork at the end of summer this year. In May, Ben, who shares three children with Jennifer Garner, moved out of his Beverly Hills mansion that he shared with JLo, which they purchased after their nuptials in July 2022.

A source said: “They are waiting for the right time to drop them. At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work, but couldn’t. Honestly, in the end, they could not come to a compromise. What they had before is gone and they have both accepted it.”

The couple first got together back in 2002 and announced their engagement soon after. But in 2004 it was confirmed that they had split. Ben then found love with Jennifer Garner the following year but split ten years later. JLo, however, tied the knot with singer Marc Anthony, who she has 16 year old twins with.

But fast-forward a few years, Ben and JLo rekindled their romance in 2021 and married the following year in Las Vegas. They then had an extravagant ceremony at Ben’s £7million plantation in the state of Georgia. But it seems, the launch of her alcohol brand was not the only red flag for Ben – so too was her documentary, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story. This told the story of their love life. Ben prefers to remain private, which he felt was completely opposite for JLo. Despite alleged attempts by Ben to get JLo to halt production, she decided to go ahead with the project.

A source close to the couple said: “He didn’t want her to do this at all. She asked him to invest in it and be involved in a project he was absolutely against. In the end, he was glad it flopped. It too destroyed their marriage. Ben didn’t want it [their love story] to be told. Only she did. They lost £18 million and [it] ruined Ben’s trust in her. Ben seeing her spread their love letters on a table for others to read [as she did onscreen] infuriated him. This is when he knew that she put fame above love.”
