Celebrities and television stars, in their droves, have begun sharing their devastation on social media after a body was found in the search for This Morning TV doctor Michael Mosley.

The likes of Jamie Oliver, Katie Price, Julia Hartley-Brewer, Piers Morgan, Ranvir Singh and Ulrika Jonsson have all paid tribute amid the sad news after it was today confirmed that a body had been found in the rescue operation for the missing TV doctor.

Michael vanished near a hiking trail on a stunning Greek island while on holiday with his family. Just mere hours before a body was found amid the search, Michael’s wife Clare said: “We will not lose hope.”

The body was discovered in a rocky area beside Agia Marina on Symi on Sunday after an extensive search operation led by emergency workers. It is thought to have been there for several days.

The This Morning doctor is thought to have fallen around 10 metres (32ft) off a cliff into the sea. The body was discovered by search teams with cameras.

In an update on Sunday morning, Mayor Eleftherios Papakaloudoukas said: “During our search, and as we were approaching a cave next to the Agia Marina beach, we were shooting along the coastline with cameras.

“We saw an object next to a fence on the beach and when we zoomed in we realised that it was [a] body. He had probably fallen from a short cliff of about 10 metres.”

Celebrities, colleagues and fellow television stars have started to speak out and pay tribute to the missing doctor, with Lorraine and Strictly star Ranvir Singh taking to Instagram to pen: “Terribly sad news. Thank you for changing the lives of thousands of people – including mine – for the better.”

John Sweeney, an investigative journalist who is standing for the Liberal Democrats in Sutton Coldfield, took to X to pen: “RIP Michael Mosley, a lovely, intelligent friend of humanity.”

British TV writer, Adam Kay, also took to the platform. He penned: “Desperately sad news about Michael Mosley. My thoughts with his family – may his memory be a blessing.”

Jamie Oliver was also among the stars to pen a moving message. Taking to Instagram shortly after the news broke, Jamie penned a heartfelt statement, writing: “Rest in peace Michael Mosley…. Absolutely devastating news about the sad loss of fellow tv presenter Micheal Mosley today.

“What a wonderfully sweet, kind and gentle man he was. he did such a lot of good for public health with his TV shows and research. He was a curious investigator, producer and presenter and often changed the conversation around many public health issues for the better. He will be sadly missed….love and thoughts to Claire and all of his family.”

Piers Morgan, former Good Morning Britain star, shared the breaking news with the note: “Body found in search for TV doctor Michael Mosley on Greek island of Symi. Very sad development.”

Katie Price also weighed in on the emotional news. She took to her Instagram page to simply share a photo of Michael, with “RIP” written in white text over the top of it.

TalkTV’s Julia Hartley-Brewer also penned a tribute on X, with the broadcaster writing: “This is very sad news. I interviewed Michael Mosley a few times about his Fast800 diet and he was an absolutely lovely man. My condolences to his family.”

Ulrika Jonsson penned an emotional message on Instagram, with her taking to her stories to share a smiling snap of the doctor. She wrote alongside it: “Such tragic news. What lovely, lovely man. Thinking of his family.”

BBC Wales journalist, weather presenter and DJ, Sue Charles has also paid tribute online. She penned: “Terrible news about Michael Mosley. You realise the impact he had with the outpouring of sadness. How millions of us followed his health tips and enjoyed ‘Just One Thing’. Recently watched the live show with his wife, Dr Clare. Feeling so sorry for her and the family.”

Prof of Public Engagement in Science, Uni of Birmingham, Alice Roberts, also took to the platform to write: “The fragility of life is so shocking. I’ve known Michael Mosley for many years – as a tv producer specialising in science and medicine. He was the executive producer of my 2009 series Human Journey.

“When he started presenting as well as producing, we made several science programmes together. And we met up at Hay Festival just 2 weeks ago. I can’t believe he’s gone. My thoughts are with his bereaved family.”
