Chris Evans says he feels “amazing” as he celebrated one year of being sober on Monday.

The T.F.I star, 58, had a health scare last year when he revealed his cancer battle on his Virgin Radio show, which resulted in him having surgery to remove a malignant growth from his leg.

With a new lease of life, having been given the all-clear in August, the star, who started his broadcasting career working for Piccadilly Radio as a teenager, has taken to Instagram sharing a snap of himself, grinning with his wife, Natasha Shishmanian. The couple look delighted with life as they clutch glasses of water with ‘Happy’ painted on them in bright letters.

Captioning the snap, in which he sports a green CarFest bucket hat, Chris wrote: Happy Soberversary to us. One year alcohol free TODAY. Feels amazing. Year 2 starts tmr. Tune in to @virginradiouk to hear @andyramageofficial BREAKFAST for THE CHAT with the main man Tuesday morning.”

Opening up about his skin cancer battle in May, Chris revealed he now loves the “proud scar” left behind after his melanoma was removed. The radio host was given the all-clear just eight weeks following his diagnosis last August, thanks to catching it early.

Chatting on his Virgin Radio show during Skin Cancer Awareness Month, he shared: “I’m now sporting a proud scar. I’ve got my scar on the back of my calf.” Chris expressed his affection for the mark, saying, “I love my scar, because the scar led me to a sunnier tomorrow, and I’m still in that tomorrow today, and it’s a wonderful place to be.”

He continued, stressing the importance of skin protection: “My dermatologist, she says from now on I always have to wear skin protection if any of my skin is naked because I’m so susceptible.”
