Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi, 22, are officially married, with the British actress confirming the rumours of their secret wedding are true.
The Stranger Things starlet, 20, and the son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi were first reported to have exchanged vows last month stateside, following their engagement over a year ago.
Taking to Instagram on Monday night, Millie celebrated being a Mrs as she shared a collection of snaps of herself and her new husband enjoying a day out at Universal Studios Orlando.
In the cute pictures, Millie can be seen wearing a pair of denim shorts with the word ‘wifey’ splashed across the back. The young actress also rocked a white baseball cap with the phrase: “Wife of the party”. Captioning the images, newlywed Millie wrote: “who wants to go to @universalorlando???? ussssssssss.”
It’s understood that Jake and Millie’s nuptials were an intimate affair with only close family in attendance, including Jake’s dad Jon and Millie’s parents. Sources suggest the lovebirds had a small, romantic wedding last month but are planning a larger celebration later this year for a wider circle of friends and family.
“Millie and Jake quietly said their vows in America last weekend. They are planning a bigger ceremony in the US later this year but now they have legally married and done all the paperwork,” an insider divulged to The Sun in May. “It was a very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family with them as they said their vows.”
The young couple started dating back in 2021 after being spotted hand-in-hand in New York and announced their engagement in April 2023. When they shared the news of their engagement, both Millie and Jake posted snaps on social media, with Millie donning a white lace dress reminiscent of bridal fashion. Flaunting a sparkling diamond ring, she captioned her Instagram post with a line from a Taylor Swift song: “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.” Jake sweetly captioned his post with a single word: “Forever.”
In a charming revelation on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in March 2024, Millie shared the heart-stopping moment of her proposal. The Stranger Things starlet recounted how her engagement ring nearly slipped away into the ocean depths. “Jake and I bonded over diving. We love diving, we got our diving licenses together,” she told Jimmy Fallon, detailing how Bongiovi had planned an early morning dive during a holiday. “I was like, ‘8 A.M., dive? ‘ And he’s telling me, ‘We’re going to the same spot we usually go to.'”.
During the dive, Jake presented Millie with a shell that concealed an engagement ring. She described the near-disastrous moment: “He puts the ring on my hand and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets so fast, it was like a cinematic movie. Jake dived after it in a desperate attempt, despite the diver’s warnings about the danger to his ears and brain.” Millie praised Jake’s heroic “cinematic grab” which saved the ring from being lost at sea. “It’s a reflection of who he is, and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back, and if anyone drops the ball, we got it,” she said, admiring his quick action.
Before walking down the aisle last month, Millie expressed her joy in planning the wedding with her fiance, saying, “I have loved every second of it. It’s been really an unbelievable journey. Every time we have a new wedding meeting, Jake and I take a picture to capture the moment of the planning process. He’s loving every second of it. I haven’t been met with a stressful time yet, and I think that’s just a reflection on how ready and excited we are to do it.”
