A Travis Kelce conspiracy theory is afoot — and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end addressed the rumors with a coy response.
On the Wednesday, May 29, episode of New Heights, Travis spoke with brother Jason Kelce about a Reddit theory that he’s set to make an appearance in the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel: Happy Gilmore 2.
When reading the “fan mention” — which Travis noted is “more of a conspiracy theory” — he got excited about the possibility.
“Theory: Travis Kelce will be announced as part of the cast of Happy Gilmore 2,” Travis quoted the Reddit thread, laughing.
“Whoa!” Jason shouted.
“Man — what?” he asked, incredulous. “I didn’t even know there was a job opening for a Happy Gilmore 2. But if there is, I’ll be a f****** extra — you know, anything to get around Happy Gilmore or an Adam Sandler film or set, count me in. Obviously been a huge fan of the Sandman, but yes, this is exactly what it says it is: a conspiracy theory.”
After Jason expressed his disappointment with a simple “oh,” Travis quickly backtracked with a cryptic response.
“Who knows? Theories can come true. Theories can be true and just people don’t know about it. I might even be in the talking end and nobody knows about it, but I could also not be in the talking end.”

Jason, for his part, acknowledged that the theory really didn’t offer much in the way of “evidence,” other than the upcoming Netflix film was recently announced and Travis has been wearing a Happy Gilmore baseball cap. Travis, meanwhile, noted that he is “looking for movie deals” — opining that he could even play Bob Barker in the sequel since he was recently tapped as a game show host on Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? (The late The Price Is Right host famously portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in Happy Gilmore.)
Though the Kelces laughed off the Happy Gilmore hat theory, this isn’t the first time Travis seemingly sent a message with a baseball cap: In April, he sported a hat while golfing that appeared to contain numerous Easter eggs related to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift — including references to her album 1989 and the song “The Archer” off of Lover.
