Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has made light of his new single life after splitting from co-star girlfriend Tisha Merry.

The 41-year-old soap star – who has played Tyrone Dobbs on Corrie since 1998 – had been dating 30-year-old Tisha from 2019, but they abruptly split earlier this year. Now Alan – who was married to former Coronation Street star Lucy-Jo Hudson from 2009 until 2018 – poked fun at his current romantic status with an amusing social media post on Monday.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Alan revealed that his pet dog had been in an amorous mood and had latched onto his leg for some unprovoked affection. Alan posed with a bemused expression while someone took a photo from above.

Sharing the image with his fans, Alan joked in the accompanying caption: “Apparently we’re not best friends. Most action I’ve had in a while ffs fml.” The collapse of Alan’s relationship with Tisha – who played Steph Britton on Coronation Street from 2013 until 2018 – was uncovered in February.

A source told The Sun at the time: “Alan and Tisha had a lot of love for each other and had really similar interests, enjoying socialising and going on holiday together. But they started to drift apart and feel the pressure of making their relationship work get on top of them. They realised they weren’t on the same page and splitting up felt like the best option. Tisha moved out of Alan’s home around a month ago and is throwing herself into work.”

Along with trying to avoid the affection of his dog over the weekend, Alan has also been spending time with his daughter, Sienna, 10. Alan shares his daughter with his ex-wife.

Taking to the main grid of his Instagram feed, Alan shared a photograph of himself and his daughter sitting on a jet ski while out on an open stretch of water. He captioned the father-daughter moment: “Making memories by Chasing Waves & living the dream with my best friend.” He added a heart emoji and a sparkle emoji to the comment.

The snap struck a chord with fans and followers who were warmed to see the pair enjoying some quality time together. One impressed follower wrote in reaction: “Enjoy making even more lovely memories, you are a wonderful dad.” And another remarked: “Love this quality time together.”

Alan’s relationship with his ex-wife has made headlines since their 2018 divorce – with clear signs the pair do not see eye to eye since breaking up. Alan reacted ferociously when Lucy-Jo’s boyfriend shared a post about Sienna. He wrote: “Our Sienna is delighted and is already making the best big sister, just like I knew she would!” and in response, Alan hit back: “You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one & call her your own! But not my daughter.” The star quickly deleted his rant but the message didn’t go unnoticed among fans.

Alan later confronted the incident and commented: “There’s always going to be ups and downs with a blended family. So long as Sienna comes first in all of it, that’s all that matters.”
