Fans go crazy after spotting Rishabh Pant at Mumbai airport
Rishabh Pant gestured a thumbs-up as Paparazzi, at Mumbai Airport, request him to retun with the trophy from the T20 World Cup.
Young wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was nearly mobbed at the Mumbai Airport on Saturday as Team India left for the T20 World Cup 2024. The fans went crazy after the 26-year-old, gathering around him for autographs and selfies while some of them even tried shaking hands with him. The cricketer didn’t disappoint them as he posed for the fans and even obliged for his signatures.

As he queued up to enter the airport, the paparazzi present there made a special request. While clicking the stars of the Indian cricket team, one of them asked Pant to return victorious. The young wicketkeeper-batter reacted saying, “Sure, thank you,” gesturing a thumbs-up.
The showpiece event gets underway next month with India beginning their campaign against Ireland. The men in blue are placed in Group A, alongside Ireland, hosts USA, Canada and arch-rivals Pakistan. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and the coaching staff boarded the flight to the West on Saturday.

Pant’s return after the car crash
The flamboyant wicketkeeper-batter returned to action in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after a year-long injury layoff. He survived a gruesome car crash in December 2022 but sustained severe injuries. He spent the entire 2023 at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, recovering from the injuries and getting in shape to play for the country again.

After being cleared by the NCA medical staff, Pant was back in the IPL 2024 to lead the Delhi Capitals. Though his team couldn’t qualify for the playoffs, he stood out with an exceptional performance with the bat. Pant ended the season being the highest scorer of his team, accumulating 446 runs in 13 games and three half-centuries. He had to miss one game, against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as he was slapped with a ban for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
