Police are investigating Matthew Perry’s death as questions remain about who supplied him with ketamine, according to reports.

The Friends star was found dead in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. His cause of death was ruled an accident from the acute effects of ketamine, with toxicology reports revealing he had substantial amounts of the drug in his system at his time of death.

Now it’s been claimed the Los Angeles police department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are in the middle of an ongoing investigation into where Matthew got the ketamine. They’re believed to looking into who supplied him with the drug and under what circumstances.

The investigation has been ongoing for months, with key Hollywood figures having been interviewed, a source told TMZ. They said those who have been approached by investigators “are known to have a history of drug use or abuse”.

The source said those who have been spoken to “are not necessarily the actual source of ketamine”, but are believed to have information which could lead to the source of the ketamine. No arrests have been made as a result of the investigation so far.

News of the investigation comes after Matthew’s stepdad Keith Morrison revealed how the actor seemed to be “beating” his struggles with addiction before his death. During an appearance on the podcast Making Spaces earlier this month, he said: “He felt like he was beating it.”

Keith sadly added: “But you never beat it, and he knew that, too.” Keith said Matthew had been sober for 19 months before his death, believing he had overcome his addiction.

The Hollywood actor previously battled severe addiction to alcohol and Opioids, specifically Vicodin. Keith said he tried to support his stepson however he could.

He explained that Matthew would find himself at a “certain point” and knew he needed professional help. Keith said: “But as he said himself, it just kept happening … and it was a big bear. It was a tough thing … [a] big, terrible thing.”

He then admitted that he still struggles with Matthew’s death. “It’s with you every day. It’s with you all the time. And there’s some new aspect of it that assaults your brain, and it’s not easy,” Keith said.
