The Golden Bachelor’s Theresa Nist knows all eyes are on her following the news of her divorce from Gerry Turner.
In a May 2 Instagram post, Nist, 70, poked fun at a publication’s coverage of her taking out the trash. Under photos of her striking a pose while holding a trash can, Nist playfully wrote: “The Golden Bachelor star Theresa Nist was seen taking out her trash inside her office.”
“Theresa wore a short dress from Zara and a hint of berry lipstick to do the chore but left her cell phone on her desk,” she continued. “This was the second time Theresa was spotted since she and Gerry announced their divorce.”
The caption concluded: “The trash can appeared to be empty.”
On April 15, three days after The Golden Bachelor couple announced their sudden split, Nist reflected on her three-month marriage with Turner, 72, in a social media post. She penned a lengthy caption alongside the Dr. Seuss quote, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
“To everyone who has expressed love, support and kindness to me I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are all such wonderful human beings. It means the world to me that you took the time to reach out to me, whether in person, on the phone, by text or by direct message. You are all so kind to do so,” Nist wrote.
Of the marriage, Nist confessed that she “truly thought it was going to last forever,” but “it turns out, even at the age of 70, you don’t know everything.”
Still, she looks back on the experience fondly, writing that she took “so many positives away” from her time with Turner on and off the show.
“I ask you to please stay open to all the experiences, opportunities, and love that may come your way,” the financial services professional concluded. “Keep smiling, keep laughing… I will. I love you all.”

Speaking to ABC News’ Juju Chang on Good Morning America, the pair explained that distance proved a problem for their relationship, even though they previously claimed they were “100% committed to making it work.”
At the time, Turner lived in his Indiana lake house, while Nist remained in New Jersey. Despite looking into a move to South Carolina, Nist said they “never got to the point” of making the decision.

There are no hard feelings between the two, however. Both Turner and Nist affirmed in the interview that they “still love” each other.
“I root for her every day,” Turner said.
