After winning the top spot at the weekend box office for three weeks in a row, Mean Girls was pushed out of the top five by new spy thriller Argylle, which features an all-star cast.
Argylle starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, Catherine O’Hara and Bryan Cranston debuted at No. 1, earning $18 million.
The Chosen: Season 4 – Episodes 1-3 about the life of Jesus debuted in second, taking in $7.5 million.
The Beekeeper starring Jason Statham dropped a spot to third, earning an additional $5.3 million for a four-week total of $49.4 million.
Wonka starring Timothée Chalamet dropped a spot to fourth, earning an additional $4.8 million to cross the enviable $200 million mark ($201.1 million) in eight weeks. Click here to read our review.
Rounding out the top five was the animated film Migration, taking in an extra $4.1 million for a seven-week total of $106.2 million.
