Michelle Keegan revealed the reason fans won’t see pictures of her and her mother walking out of restaurants.

The Fool Me Once star, 36, has been heaped with praise after her new Netflix series came out. The series, based on one of Harlan Coben’s books, follows an ex-army captain trying to find out who murdered her husband as she discovers video footage that changes everything in her life.

While promoting her new show, Michelle has been opening up about her life in recent interviews. During a chat on Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Michelle explained why her mother Jacqueline refuses to walk out of restaurants with her and be pictured with her.

Michelle revealed she struggles with Imposter Syndrome after being a “late-starter” in the industry when she got the Tina McIntyre role in Coronation Street. She also discussed how negative comments have affected her mother and the rest of her family.

The Brassic star explained: “When it affects my family, that’s when it’s hurtful. I remember once I stepped out of a restaurant with my mum and we got pictured and I remember my mum reading the article and she read the comments. That really affected my mum, really bad.

“Now, she won’t walk out of restaurants with me, because of that reason.” Michelle keeps her family life private and avoids sharing too many glimpses into her family life. With how private Michelle and her husband Mark Wright are about their family, it’s no surprise she hates when people ask about her baby plans.

The couple, who are both 36, have been married almost eight years – but Michelle says it is only her who keeps getting asked when they are going to start a family and she believes this is because she is a woman. Every time the pair post a snap with one of their nieces or nephews on social media, fans are quick to ask when they are going to have a baby of their own.

Saying she wants to do things on her own terms and won’t be pressured into starting a family, the actress blasted the constant line of questioning and said: “It’s horrible. People don’t know if we’re trying. They don’t know the background of what’s happening. In this day and age, you shouldn’t be asking questions like that. I’m asked purely because I’m a woman. But I’m immune to it now – it’s like a reaction, and as soon as I hear it I brush it off as it’s no one else’s business.”
