Lily Gladstone made history as the first Indigenous woman to win Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama at the Golden Globes, receiving the award for playing Mollie Burkhart in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.The film follows the serial killings of Osage Nation members in 1920s Oklahoma, masterminded by William Hale (played by Robert De Niro) and his nephew Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio), husband to oil heiress Mollie.Gladstone concluded a powerful acceptance speech by dedicating the win to “every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream, who is seeing themselves represented and our stories told by ourselves, in our own words, with tremendous allies and tremendous trust.”
