Gogglebox’s Pete poses with rarely-seen ‘gorgeous’ wife after eventful year

Pete Sandiford shared a snap of his rarely-seen wife as the happy couple toasted the end of 2023 on New Year’s Eve.

The Gogglebox star and his wife Paige Sandiford enjoyed an eventful year thanks to the pair becoming parents for a second time in June when they welcomed their daughter into the world.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, mum-of-two Paige shared a sweet snap of herself and Pete posing by a Christmas tree as they prepared to ring in the new year.

“First and last post of 2023,” Paige wrote as she captioned the image for her 14,900 followers. Proud husband Pete then reposted Paige’s update to his Instagram Stories on New Year’s Eve, jokingly adding: “Staying up after 10 [nervous face emoji].”

“Such a lovely couple! Hope you have an amazing 2024,” one fan commented on the couple’s cute picture, with another adding: “Gorgeous couple – I’m a big gogglebox fan, Pete you crack us up!” A third Instagram user told Paige: “How do you look so beautiful after two children please?”

Pete shared the joyful news of his daughter’s arrival and her adorable name during the show’s series finale over the summer last year. The episode, which was the last one before the summer break, ended on a high note as Pete announced he had become a dad for the second time.

Pete and his wife Paige, who are already proud parents to son Jimmy, introduced their newborn daughter to viewers just before the show ended. As his sister Sophie was doing laundry, Pete shouted: “Hey Sophie, did I tell you Evie’s full name? She’s going to be Evie Sylvie Sandiford.”

Sophie instantly approved of the name, shouting from another room: “Oh I love it!” The couple first announced they were expecting their second child back in December, in the same episode that Ellie Warner revealed she was going to become a mum for the first time.

In a sweet clip, Pete told his son Jimmy that he was about to become a big brother. He joked: “Jimbers, you’re going to have a little brother or sister coming. You’re going to have to milk it.” Ellie also shared her baby news on Friday, introducing her son Ezra alongside her sister Izzi.

The much-loved TV star has kept silent on social media in recent weeks as fans speculated that she had already given birth, but the new mum waited to share the wonderful news while sitting on her famous Gogglebox couch.

Taking to social media, Ellie confirmed the arrival of little Ezra with boyfriend Nat Eddleston during the show’s final episode of the series. “Sweet baby Ezra. He has made our lives complete. We love you so much son,” she wrote on Instagram.

Fans of the show were quick to react to the heartwarming news. One fan wrote: “Aww @Petesandiford’s wife has had their baby too. Absolutely beautiful name. Many congratulations.” A second viewer penned: “Congratulations to Pete and Paige Sandiford on the birth of baby Evie.” A third person said: “What a lovely start and finish to Gogglebox tonight!
