Jamie Lomas hasn’t seen his son in six years and wants to be ‘reunited again’

Jamie Lomas revealed he hasn’t seen his eldest son in six years in a heartbreaking social media post.

The Hollyoaks favourite, who shares the teenager and 12-year-old daughter Polly with his actress ex-wife Kym Marsh, didn’t hold back as he marked Billy’s 18th birthday. He pleaded to one day be reunited with him as the dad was reduced to sharing non-recent photos of the lad when he was a young child at football matches.

Neither Jamie or Kym have ever commented on the reasons why he has not seen his son in so long. But the former I’m A Celebrity camp-mate opened up in a candid post saying he “feels the pain” of other dads who also “don’t get to see their kids”. The 48-year-old actor took to Instagram to wish his son a happy birthday.

Alongside montage of old photos from when his boy was younger, he wrote: “To my first born Billy. Happy 18th birthday son. Sadly It’s been 6 years since I’ve been able to see you. But there isn’t a day goes by that I don’t think about you and look back on our great times together. I miss you everyday and I love you with everything I have.

“I hope with all my heart you get to see this and that one day we will be reunited again. I hope you have a wonderful birthday son and have a great time whatever you do and just know I will be thinking of you and that your family misses you. A big shout out to all the dads out there that are struggling because they don’t get to see their kids. I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!’

Kym decided against sharing a birthday message to her son online following Jamie’s post, which attracted plenty of attention. The former Corrie star, now married to third husband Scott Ratcliff, also has kids David, 26, and Emilie, 24, with her ex Jack Cunliffe.

Jamie’s co-star Gary Lucy offered his support, writing in the comments: “I have to write this part 2 for you Jamie… I know how much this hurts you. I pray that in some way this heart wrenching situation improves for you both sooner rather than later. I feel your pain brother and for what it’s worth.

“I Love you and appreciate you more than you will ever know… All you’ve done for me my brother checking in / those little texts / listening / reasoning / advising and more than anything giving me strength when I’ve faltered I’ll never forget. Be strong love you,” he went on.

Jamie recently announced his engagement to dentist girlfriend Jess Bell. The pair have been together for two years and plan to get married. He told OK! Magazine: ‘I had been planning it for a while and I wanted it to be perfect. We’d been in Lake Como a few weeks earlier but we both adore Mexico and I thought, ‘Where better than in our favourite restaurant in our favourite resort in our favourite country?'”
