Prince Harry issued stern warning to Meghan Markle about taking photos

Prince Harry left Meghan Markle rather confused as he issued a stern warning about where she should and shouldn’t take photographs.

The Duchess of Sussex joined the Royal Family in 2016 when she started dating her now-husband Harry and she had a lot of rules to learn. In the early days of their romance, Meghan was well-known for her role as Rachel Zane on Suits as well as her charity work.

As she prepared to head to India for a humanitarian trip, Harry has revealed that he made sure to give her one big caution. Writing in his memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex said he advised Meghan not to pose in front of the Taj Mahal for fear people would think she was copying his late mother Princess Diana.

The late Princess of Wales was famously snapped alone outside India’s most iconic landmark. Writing in his memoir, Harry said he told Meghan: “Do not take a photo in front of the Taj Mahal.”

He continued: “She’d asked why and I’d said: ‘My mum’. I’d explained that my mother had posed for a photo there, and it had become iconic, and I didn’t want anyone thinking Meg was trying to mimic my mother.”

However, Meghan had never even heard of the photograph. Harry wrote: “Meg had never heard of this photo, and found the whole thing baffling, and I loved her for being baffled.”

Diana was photographed outside the Taj Mahal during her visit to India with Prince Charles in February 1992. The solo photograph became a symbol for their relationship.

At the time the picture was taken, Diana and Charles were already living separately in the UK. The late Princess of Wales was living in Kensington Palace, while Charles stayed at Highgrove in Gloucestershire. The former couple announced their separation 10 months after the picture was taken.

Despite Harry’s warning to Meghan, Prince William and his wife Princess Kate visited the Taj Mahal in 2016 and posed for a photo on the same bench. The couple sat together for 25 seconds before entering the Taj Mahal for a private tour.
