Nigel Farage has been dealt a huge blow ahead of tonight’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! final as his hopes of being crowned King of the Jungle are hanging by a thread.

The controversial campmate was hoping to take the crown against the odds but it would seem that the public will turn their back on him when it comes to choosing their champion among the final three. Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson is the clear favourite, according to Ladbrokes, who have him odds-on favourite at 4/11 to triumph.

Second of the three, according to the bookmakers, is former boxer Tony Bellew, who has made a connection with viewers at home. As things stand, Bellew is 4/1 to win which puts him marginally ahead of Farage (9/2), who is likely to be beaten into third place on the ITV reality show.

A spokesman for Ladbrokes said: “We’re guaranteed a King of the Jungle this year, and while Nigel Farage has been well backed of late, the odds suggest Sam Thompson is a shoo-in for the crown.”

There have been some tensions in the camp and This Morning presenter Josie Gibson has claimed that Farage was “airtime” in a dig at him on Friday night as the duo clashed over a Bushtucker Trial.

Josie was made the camp leader by default and she took a seat on her throne as Marvin Humes brought news that the latest Trial was Christmas-themed. Josie said: “I’m going to do it. If you want me to do it, I’ll do it.”

To which Tony Bellew asked: “Are you going to be scared of anything that’s landed on you? Because right now we need stars?” to which Josie said: “I’m scared of all of it… but you feel like you need to win stars and maybe I’ve not got the minerals.”

Farage then explained his reasons for wanting to go saying: “I did a lot of Bushtucker Trials in the early phases, you boys have now caught up. So it’s my turn. My turn, simple as that.” Marvin said: “I’m happy to do it” while Tony added: “I’m the same.” Meanwhile, Josie said: “I feel like I need to prove myself a bit now.”

After some back and forth over who should take on the trial, Josie finally conceded that she wasn’t the campmate for the task and said: “No, it’s alright. Let Nige do it, he wants the airtime!”

In the Bush Telegraph later, Josie explained: “I should have fought my corner a bit more but he wants the airtime because he wants to prove himself to the nation.”
