Personalised company Monnpig has come under fire for creating a birthday card that appears to ‘mock’ I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Nella Rose.

Nella Rose, who was briefly removed from the jungle this week for a medical emergency, has been publicly slammed for an argument with First Dates star Fred Sirieux in which she accused the restauranteur of being “insensitive” over a comment about being old enough to be her dad. The YouTuber took offence after she reminded the Channel 4 star that she had told her about the death of her dad earlier that day. Nella appeared upset as she revealed her father’s passing is still very raw, with her also losing her mother at an early age.

The incident caused a widespread backlash against Nella Rose, with many viewers claiming the outburst was ‘over the top’.

However, it seems like Nella’s outburst won’t be forgotten any time soon, as card company Moonpig have released a birthday card featuring a caricature of the YouTuber. The card, which appears to ‘mock’ the star, features a birthday message which read: “I’m really offended that it’s your birthday.”

But the card has not gone down well, with some swearing off ever using or buying from the retailer again. One person on social media wrote: “Yeah, never using @MoonpigUK ever again” as they shared an image of the offending card. Another wrote: “So Nella’s going to come out of the jungle and see corporations like @MoonpigUK mocking the trauma she’s faced losing both of her parents recently? Cool.” A third added: “I don’t like Nella but even I think this is going too far. Surely she could sue Moon Pig for defamation of character.”

However not everyone thought the card was offensive, with one person seeing it as lighthearted fun, with one person writing: “They’re not mocking her trauma, they’re mocking the fact she was offended by a simple figure of speech. It’s really not that deep.” Since the comments surfaced, Moonpig appears to have deleted the card for sale. The Mirror has reached out to Moonpig for comment.

Nella Rose briefly left the jungle this week after needing to receive medical attention. The star was set to take on a Bushtucker trial called In Too Deep, yet had to bow out at the last minute. On Tuesday night during the live broadcast, Ant and Dec revealed Nella had been made exempt from the trial at the last minute after the public vote had been cast. Dec, 48, explained: “Now, unfortunately, Nella is being seen by the medic so she’ll be back later but it means she is now exempt from today’s trial.”

Nella showed no signs of illness before the announcement, but an ITV spokesman said: “For medical reasons, Nella Rose is being treated by the show’s on-site medics and will be returning to camp shortly. As a result, she is exempt from the next trial.”
