Nigel Farage has suggested she might get stroppy in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle if he is deprived of food and pushed too far by his co-stars.

The controversial 59-year-old politician is one of the 10 celebrities taking part in the 2023 season of ITV’s long-running reality show. While viewers may vote to see the former UKIP leader eat various parts of wild animals, the man himself has said he will be most angered while on the show if he is denied food entirely.

Nigel was one of the driving voices behind the 2016 Brexit referendum Leave campaign – making him one of the most divisive politicians in the country as he unashamedly pushed to see the UK taken out of the EU. And while the former MEP turned GB News host has suggested fans and critics will see a cuddlier side to him while he is in the jungle, he has also warned that he might turn nasty if he is hungry and being ‘goaded’ by his campmates.

Opening up to The Sun, Nigel said: “If I’ve got a fault, well, sometimes I can get a bit impatient. I think that being short-tempered is something I’m prone to a little bit and I guess in there, food deprived, I’m going to have to learn to be patient with people even if they’re goading me.”

However, he also went on to claim that viewers could end up being bored by him on their screens. He said: “I’m remarkably normal. I know that’s disappointing, but remarkably normal.

“I enjoy the sort of things that most people enjoy. I care about things that a lot of people care about. I’m not an exceptional person in any way at all.”

Before entering the jungle, Nigel explained that he is taking part in the 2023 contest in an attempt to change perceptions of him. The politician – who has been paid a reported £1.5 million to take part – said in a pre-entry interview: “My crime was to stand against an establishment view and I was for many years the lone voice saying Europe wasn’t where we should be, so I have been a little bit demonised.

“I am hoping those who hate me might hate me a little bit less afterwards. But it’s a gamble.”

He continued: “And the idea that somehow the things I represent – mean-spirited, small-minded, nasty, the ‘little Englander’ – all those accusations that have been flung at me over the years just aren’t true. If we can dispel some of those misconceptions, then that will be a good thing too.”

The other celebs taking part in the 2023 season are EastEnders actress Danielle Harold, First Dates maître d’ Fred Sirieix, food critic Grace Dent, actress Jamie Lynn Spears, This Morning star Josie Gibson, JLS singer Marvin Humes, YouTube star Nella Rose, Hollyoaks actor Nick Pickard, and Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson.
