Earlier this week, Prince Harry was reported to have snubbed an invitation to his father King Charles III’s 75th birthday party, with it soon emerging that the Duke of Sussex has had “no contact” with his father and was actually snubbed by him.

The Duke, who resides in California with his wife the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and their two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, was said to have been invited to a birthday bash for his dad at Clarence House. With the party due to take place next week.

And now, after a spokesperson for the couple claimed there was no invitation sent, nor any contact had, a friend of the couple has suggested the Palace could have leaked the “snubbing” story to take away the negative reception from the recent Royal visit to Kenya.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been slammed by a Royal expert

While in Kenya, the King faced calls to apologise for Britain’s colonial past. And now, Royal experts are claiming that the timing of the intervention by the couple was “particularly inappropriate”.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a Royal expert, has spoken to MailOnline about the Duke and Duchess’ “snub” and also touched on how King Charles opened Parliament on Tuesday. Speaking to the paper, he said: “The very same day [as the King opening Parliament], with particularly inappropriate timing, the Sussexes are back in the news.

“They deny a report in the Sunday Times that they turned down an invitation to the King’s 75th birthday. Harry, an insider tells us, will reach out to his father privately. A source has also suggested that the report was timed to distract attention away from the recent trip by King Charles and Queen Camilla to Kenya,” he said.

Mr Fitzwilliams then added that the King performed a “sensitive balancing act when visiting an important ally in Africa”. Before noting that the visit has been regarded as a success, adding: “This attitude shows the level of the Sussexes sense of entitlement”.

He then touched on the “hard work” that the King and Queen put in on their four-day tour, before saying that it was “nothing compared to the Sussexes personal feelings”.

Elsewhere in his chat with the paper, he added: “The rift in the Royal Family could not be wider,” before adding that he hopes “another memoir” is not in the pipeline on Harry and Meghan’s part.
