I’m A Celebrity star fears Fred Sirieix and Nella Rose ‘won’t patch things up’

Nella Rose and Fred Sirieix might never “patch things up”, leaving them in an incredibly “awkward environment”, fears a former I’m A Celebrity star.

The YouTuber and First Dates star butted heads only days into the programme, which launched last Sunday. Nella furiously told Fred she felt “offended” after the 51-year-old told her that he was old enough to be her dad, an unfortunate choice of wording which upset Nella due to her late father’s tragic death back in 2020.

She called him a “weirdo” for “bringing up her dead dad” before ordering: “I don’t want to eat your food, I don’t want to talk to you. We can just live, you live on that side, I live on this side.” It’s after this explosive spat that former I’m A Celeb runner-up Jake Quickenden tells The Mirror he’s concerned the two might not make up.

Speaking exclusively to us straight after Nella and Fred’s bust-up aired on ITV, Jake admitted he “didn’t really understand what was going on”. He said if the pair don’t put the ordeal behind them, they face an ‘incredibly awkward’ few weeks.

“They’re obviously tired, touchy, hungry and Nella’s obviously really took offence. And I think Fred apologised and didn’t mean anything by what he said. But you’ve also seen Fred question Brexit with Nigel, so you can tell he is a big character. And he’s got opinions, you know. I really liked Nella as well, I thought she was doing brilliant.

“She obviously had the trials and she’s very funny. She’s very likeable. So hopefully those two will kind of patch that up and kind of get on with things. But after what was said and when Nella told Fred she didn’t want to talk to him I was like, ‘oh, maybe won’t get patched up’. But three weeks is lot of time spent with someone that you’re not talking to so hopefully they will sort it out. It’s such a small environment.”

Jake explained what things will be like in the jungle if the two don’t talk things over, adding: “If you’re not talking to somebody it can be quite awkward. And you know what these TV bosses are like, they’ll end up pulling them together on the bingo dollar.

“I mean, you’ve got to talk to each other in the end. So hopefully it’s just a kind of misunderstanding. It’ll get brushed under the… there’s no carpet in there… but brushed under the leaves. And hopefully they will be alright.”

After Fred was confronted by Nella over her upset, he told her: “I am so sorry. Can I just say? First of all, I am sorry I’ve offended you. I am unaware that you felt offended. I am unaware that what I said would lead to this conversation, I only said that in a way because I am older than you, I am 51 and you’re 26.”

Nella said back: “I’m not stupid, you’re not going to little girl me, you’re not.” Fred told her: “Nella, it wasn’t like that at all,” swearing on his family’s life. He added: “Either I made a mistake and I said something and I offended you, I’m really sorry. I’m really sorry you feel like this.” Nella went on: “I accept your apology, but in order for us to live in this camp together, I don’t want to eat no food that you’re cooking, don’t talk to me.

“You stay over there, I stay over here and we can live. I’m good. Yeah. You stay over there. Look at your face, you’re smiling. You don’t even give a f**k.” Fred went on to ask: “You could have said straight away, ‘Excuse me Fred this is upsetting me’.” Nella said to him: “Can you not clock on the vibe?” Fred replied: “No, because you’ve been sleeping quite a lot so I thought you were tired. If I made a faux pas, unwillingly, unconsciously, I am very sorry. But this was all it was. That’s all it was. If you want to take it to the nth degree and not speak to me anymore, it’s your choice.” Nella added: “You only get one chance to disrespect me. I accept your apology but let’s not be friends. How about that?”
