I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! fans reckon they’ve worked out why one of the class of 2023 appears to be isolating themselves from the other campmates.

Viewers couldn’t wait for the 23rd series to kick off last night, but noticed Britney Spears’ younger sister, Jamie Lynn, 32, appeared to somewhat detached, with reports the actress is “miserable” in camp. When it was announced the mum-of-two had signed up for the show, viewers were excited Jamie Lynn would share some gossip about her famous sibling, but it appears being referred to as “Britney’s sister” by her fellow celebrities may be starting to get to her.

After Nick Pickard confessed: “I had no idea when I woke up this morning I’d be skydiving with Britney Spears’s sister” after EastEnders’ star Danielle Harold mused: “It’s just mad, I’m with Britney Spears’ sister”, fans took to X, commenting on the campmates. One viewer said: “Sorry, but the campmates referring to Jamie Lynn as ‘Britney Spears’ sister’ is so funny to me,” along with a video of Britney chuckling in one of her music videos. Others agreed, with one suggesting Jamie Lynn must be “tired of living in her sister’s shadow”.

It is feared the actress – who made no reference to Britney when introducing herself to viewers or while in conversation with Josie Gibson, who was probing the singer about her “musical family” – could quit the show after appearing to struggling with jungle life. On Sunday, the Nickelodeon star jumped from a plane alongside Marvin Humes and Nick before going on to complete challenge Temple of Doom.

However, on Saturday, she was believed to have isolated herself in camp and stayed in bed, with producers worried she could be a “flight risk”. “Away from the cameras and scenes that aired on TV, it’s her behaviour in camp that has become obvious to crew,” a source told The Sun. “She has kept herself somewhat separate, not really socialising — and stayed in bed.”

They added it appeared as though the self-confessed “red neck” was really missing her family, and, that unlike the other celebrities on the show, she doesn’t know anyone in camp. In order to receive her full pay cheque, Jamie Lynn needs to stay in the jungle for 72 hours.

The singer and actress – who was accused by Britney of capitalising on the controversial conservatorship that controlled the Overprotected star’s life for 13 years – has already proved to be a bit of a challenge for bosses after refusing to take part in media chats prior to entering the jungle. While it is not required by their contract to speak to journalists ahead of starring on the ITV show, it rare for a celebrity to not do so.

A TV source told the Mirror: “It is disappointing Jamie Lynn wouldn’t speak to journalists out in Australia. She kept her head down at Brisbane airport which is fair enough after a long flight, but it is highly unusual to not take part in the media chats whilst waiting to go into camp this week. It is not a great sign if you are hoping Jamie Lynn is going to be hugely talkative on the show and give up lots of goss about Britney. Hopefully she finds her voice in camp.”
