On top of having one of the most successful tours of all time with her Eras Tour, she is one of the most influential figures in the world. This sort of recognition and attention always comes at a cost.
There is a common Hollywood curse of celebrities who are at the highest of fame, getting scrutinized by the media and Swift is no stranger to this. Unfortunately, often times a lot can go wrong and people end up getting hurt.
It has recently been reported that her father, Scott Kingsley Swift, was accused of punching a paparazzi while he and his daughter were in Sydney, Australia. The matter has become so serious that the usually reserved singer’s team has issued a statement.
Taylor Swift’s Father Accused Of Punching Paparazzi
It was recently claimed by paparazzi, Ben McDonald, that at 2:30 am, he was punched by Taylor Swift’s father, Scott Swift, at a ferry wharf in the suburb of Neutral Bay. Authorities in the area have claimed that they are looking into an attack involving a 71-year-old man and another individual in the same locality. It is important to note that Swfit’s father is also of the same age.
Reports have also suggested that the other individual had been waiting for the singer and her father at the Neutral Bay dock to photograph them after they went out on the Sydney Harbour. McDonald spoke about the incident, via ABC, stating that he was okay after getting hit by her father.

“It was just a punch in the chops. It’s a little tender, but I don’t have any bruising and it didn’t require medical assistance,” claimed McDonald,
“There were about four or five security there and at one point, one of the American security started shoving his umbrella into me and my camera and then Taylor got in her car,” adding, “Someone else came running at me and punched me in the left side of my face. Initially, I thought it was an Australian security that was trying to be the hero of the moment in the front of the Americans, but as it turned out it was her father,”
He then spoke more about exactly what transpired, stating that he had been waiting for the singer along with other paparazzi, and when she arrived at the scene, they were being nudged back by security. It was here that he claimed that Scott Swift punched him.
Taylor Swift’s Team Put Out A Statement
Taylor Swift’s team also spoke out on the matter, telling a completely different version of events. In an email, it was mentioned that the paparazzi had been anything but civil. They specifically talked about two people, who were trying to push their way towards Swift and grabbing at her security.
“Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water,” said the statement.
Regardless, the matter is now being handled by the authorities in the area, even though the singer has left the country after the end of the Australian leg of the Eras Tour.
