Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma welcomed their first child, Vamika, on January 11, 2021. Despite being aware of the due date, Kohli played the initial Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia in mid-December 2020 before returning home to join his wife.
Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli expressed gratitude towards the paparazzi, fans, and media for respecting their request not to share pictures of their daughter Vamika.They reiterated their plea to maintain privacy and keep their child away from the public spotlight. As Team India departed for South Africa, Virat Kohli requested the gathered media not to publish any photos of his daughter. Additionally, they conveyed a message to those who had already used such photos.
A few months after Vamika’s birth, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message: “We are deeply thankful to the Indian paparazzi and most of the media fraternity for not publishing pictures or videos of Vamika. As parents, our request to the few who carried the images and video will be to support us going forward.”
Adding a further appeal, “We seek privacy for our child and would like to do our best to give her a chance to live her life freely away from media and social media. As she is older, we cannot restrict her movement, and hence your support is needed, so kindly practice restraint in the matter. A special thank you to fan clubs and people on the internet for going out of their way to not post images. It was kind and highly mature of you.”

Virat and Anushka became parents for the first time in January of this year. They released a statement after their daughter’s birth, asking the paparazzi to give them privacy.
