Origin – Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor) turns down an assignment to write an article about Trayvon Martin’s murder, but finds she can’t get his death out of her mind. The Braid – In India, Smita (Mia Maelzer) braids her daughter Lalita’s hair to prepare her for school, while in Italy, Giulia (Fotinì Peluso) works alongside her father. In Canada, single mother Sarah (Kim Raver) is a high-priced attorney. When Lalita is beaten by the school teacher because she’s of the caste known as the Undesirables, Smita vows to leave town for a fresh start elsewhere. Giulia’s father is seriously injured in a car accident, leaving her to deal with his debts, while Sarah collapses at her job. Something, somehow, will unite these three women.
