Cardi B told fans that she had been in the hospital “recovering from a medical emergency” in an Instagram post on Wednesday, September 23.
The announcement came as a shock to fans, especially since the “Bodak Yellow” singer, 32, and rapper Offset welcomed a third baby on September 12. Cardi shared the update about her health in order to explain why she would no longer appear at ONE MusicFest. The show was scheduled for October 26 in Atlanta.
The “I Like It Like That” rapper wrote that it “breaks [her] heart” to disappoint her fans, but thanked her “Bardi Gang” for their understanding and support. “I’ll be back better and stronger soon,” she said in the post, and then added, “thank you guys for understanding… I will see you soon 🫶,” in the caption.
Commenters were quick to chime in with their well-wishes and encouragement, and even actress Taraji P. Henson reached out to wish Cardi well . “🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FRIST!!!!!!! 🧡🧡🧡” the Empire actress wrote.
Several Cardi lovers assured the star that they would love her no matter what. “I’m so glad you’re taking care of yourself ❤️ Your health matters. Don’t worry we will show up proud and louder as ever at your next gig!!! We love you and I pray you get better! @iamcardib,” wrote one devoted fan. “I HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON CARDI ✨” said another.
Some commenters mentioned that it was ambitious for her to attempt to perform again so soon after giving birth.
“Definitely a setback moving too fast gotta rest up fr and give your body time to heal from having a whole baby,” advised one Instagram user. Another follower seemed to be throwing shade at the “Careful” singer, writing, “should’ve sat down after you had that baby but nooooooo 😒”
According to her website, Cardi B does not have more concerts scheduled as of yet.
