It appears that Sabrina Carpenter may feel responsible for the Mayor of New York City being indicted.
On Sunday, September 29, Carpenter, 25, performed a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in NYC for her Short N’ Sweet tour. During her concert in the Big Apple, the former Disney star brought up the link between herself and Mayor Eric Adams’ indictment. Adams, 64, is facing wire fraud, solicitation, and bribery charges at the federal level — he has pleaded not guilty in court.
“Danm, what now?” the singer first asked the audience. “Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted or…?” Carpenter questioned. The pop star then put her hand over her mouth and turned away from the camera, seemingly shocked by the words that came out.

In October 2023, Carpenter’s music video for her hit song “Feather” —currently sitting at 90 million views on YouTube — was released. The controversial video filmed a scene where the songstress has a mock funeral for her exes at Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The church is a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and is in charge of the Catholic churches in both Brooklyn and Queens. After the video premiered, the church removed monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, who allowed the Girl Meets World alum to film there.
Earlier this month, NBC New York reported that Our Lady of Mount Carmel was subpoenaed by Federal investigators looking for financial and business dealings between Gigantiello and Frank Carone, the former chief of staff for Adams. A representative for the church spoke on the subpoena requested. “The Diocese is fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including of conduct at individual parishes or involving any priests,” the individual stated.

In November 2023, Gigantiello put out a statement apologizing for his role in the matter. “While I take full responsibility for the erroneous decision to allow the filming, I want to assure you I had no knowledge such a scene would be filmed in our church,” he wrote in a letter.
Adams has not spoken publicly about his former chief of staff having a connection to the church. Neither Gigantiello or Carone have been charged with any crimes yet — per NBC New York, Carone is not privy to any criminal investigation that involves him.
