Timothée Chalamet’s awkward paparazzi encounter has gone viral following an alleged fallout with Selena Gomez.
The Wonka actor and the “Single Soon” songstress took over the internet after Sunday night’s Golden Globes ceremony, thanks to a rumor involving Chalamet’s new girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.
Gomez, 30, was filmed chatting to her friend Taylor Swift in hushed tones during the star-studded award show, which took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The pop star, 34, seemed flabbergasted by Gomez’s words, with her jaw drop caught on camera.

Fans were desperate to know what the pair were discussing, leading to intense speculation online. On Monday, a social media user claimed to have deciphered the conversation, sparking a conspiracy debate.
X user @allurequinn, who claims to be able to read lips, suggested that Gomez had asked Chalamet for a selfie. However, Jenner had banned him from taking the picture, annoying Gomez, who reportedly relayed the encounter to Swift.
Although Gomez denied the claims, rumors of a feud are still rife.

A TMZ reporter wanting to know more about the alleged confrontation bumped into Chalamet in Los Angeles on Tuesday, with her approach causing uproar online.
The 28-year-old actor was seemingly trying to maintain a low profile while out for a stroll with his sister, Pauline Chalamet. The Oscar nominee was wearing all black, with the hood of his jacket covering his head.
“Hey, how you doing?” the reporter asked Chalamet during the clip, but the star quickly tried to move on.
“Hey, did you deny Selena a photo? Like everyone’s reporting?” she pressed, following him down the street.
Again, Chalamet attempts to ignore the journalist, but the reporter is persistent.
“Can you shut down the rumors?” she asked. “Would you every deny Selena? Is it ridiculous?”
Evidently annoyed by the questioning, Chalamet asked: “Were you just hanging out there?”
The journalist confirmed she was waiting for rapper DDG to arrive when the actor happened to walk by.
She continued to grill Chalamet, until the Call Me By Your Name star told her that she “needs to go.”
“Undeterred, the journalist again asked: “Are you and Selena cool?” to which an exasperated Chalamet responded “Of course.”
The awkward run-in sparked outrage online. Social media users dubbed the clip “beyond cringe” and accused the TMZ reporter of harassing Chalamet.

“That was unbelievably uncomfortable to watch,” wrote @remcbe.
“I don’t know how these celebs don’t snap on the paparazzi,” said Lucia.
“Following someone down the street like that is so creepy,” agreed Tiffany NLNL. “Lucky she didn’t get pepper sprayed.”
“Leave the poor man alone, geez,” said Jessica, while @TFHypeGuy commented: “Being famous probably isn’t as good as it seems.”
However, other users applauded the paparazzi and her persistence, accusing Chalamet of “dodging the questions.”
“Can he not have the decency to stop, look at her and answer her?? I swear they see us normal folk as peasants,” wrote Deliah.
“What is so hard [about] answering a question knowing you can shut everything down in that moment,” said @morethenavisual.
“If he didn’t deny Selena a photo, then he would’ve just said he didn’t,” commented @swiftietaylor89.
Gomez denied claims that she and Swift were gossiping about Chalamet and Jenner. On Tuesday, the Only Murders in the Building star commented on an Instagram post from E! News, after the outlet claimed to have “the truth” about her conversation with the “Anti-Hero” singer.
“Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up,” Gomez wrote on Tuesday. “Not that that’s anyone business.”
On Wednesday, Gomez announced she is taking a break from social media. The actor explained the decision in an Instagram story post, sharing a clip of new love Benny Blanco playing with two young children.
“I’m off social for a while,” she wrote alongside the footage. “I’m focusing on what really matters.”
