Vince Vaughn just celebrated a big Hollywood milestone. The actor — known for his roles in movies like Old School, Dodgeball, and Wedding Crashers — received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, August 12. Joining Vaughn, 54, at his Walk of Fame ceremony were his wife, Kyla Weber, and their two children Locklyn, 13, and Vernon, 11. Also in attendance was Vaughn’s longtime friend and collaborator, Mel Gibson, in an extremely rare red carpet appearance.
While Vaughn kept his look simple, donning a charcoal suit and a pair of white sneakers, Gibson, 68, was dressed in a white button-up shirt, blue swim shorts, and black sneakers.

Gibson’s appearance at the ceremony doesn’t come without its controversy. Over the years, Gibson has come under fire for allegedly driving under the influence and making homophobic and antisemitic comments, as well as allegedly abusive behavior toward his ex-wife, Oksana Grigorieva. Once pictures surfaced online of Vaughn and Gibson, many social media users expressed disappointment.
One person on X (formerly Twitter) noted how “cancel culture” isn’t effective, given the fact that Gibson was able to make a public appearance despite his several public scandals. Another person criticized Vaughn for taking a selfie and being friends with Gibson, and cultivating a space where Gibson would feel comfortable making a public appearance.
Gibson and Vaughn previously worked together on the 2019 crime film Dragged Across Concrete and the 2016 World War II film Hacksaw Ridge.
Vaughn currently stars on Apple TV+’s new series, Bad Monkey, which begins streaming Wednesday, August 14.
