Chloe Sims detailed her TOWIE transformation to a socialite in Los Angeles.

The 42-year-old reality TV veteran, who was the longest-serving cast member on the ITVBe show until her departure in 2021, has spent a year and a half on the California coast. She reveals that this time away from Essex has brought about significant changes in her mental, physical, and emotional state.

The days of punishing gym routines and hours spent striving for “perfection” are long gone. In fact, she admits, there’s very little left of the person she used to be, and she’s all the happier for it. “It sounds really weird because I haven’t really spoken about this, but I’ve realised that Chloe from TOWIE doesn’t exist any more,” she confesses.

“When I first went to LA, it was very rare for me to be recognised. I would joke to my brother Charlie that I could work in Trader Joe’s and nobody would notice,” she told OK! “I realised I could just be anyone I wanted, and that took away a lot of the pressure of perfection about how I looked and how I dressed, about everything.

“I didn’t have to play that part any more. I started to take in my surroundings, I started to relax. The whole idea of ‘perfection’ that I had in my head, when I would do the absolute most and drive myself mad, started to melt away and I started concentrating on the things that I actually enjoy.”

“I don’t look down on who I was, and I’ll always be grateful to TOWIE, but I’m just not that person any more,” she shares with the publication. “I’m more mature, more chilled out and I feel happier to be honest.” Chloe is taking a break from her reality TV show, House of Sims, in the UK.

She’s embarked on an ambitious project, renovating a sizeable country home in Essex, purchased earlier this year. It’s set to serve as her UK base, given her transatlantic trips (she’s temporarily residing with her grandmother, Linda). The house will also provide a home for her 19 year old daughter Madison, who divides her time between LA and Essex.

“I’m so lucky I’m in a position where Maddie doesn’t need to go and get a job straight away,” Chloe reveals. “I was in that position and have worked since I was 15. I didn’t have the opportunity to take my time thinking about what sort of career I wanted, it wasn’t an option, and I didn’t want that for her. I only have one child and I don’t ever want her to go through the things I did and be in the positions I was in.

“I feel like I’ve worked my a**e off, and if I want to do that for her, I will.” She cheekily concedes that even moving to the countryside signifies a shift towards a calmer version of herself. “I started looking for somewhere in London, and I put a few offers in on flats in Chelsea, but for whatever reason, I didn’t get them,” she says.

“I realise I wasn’t supposed to, because then I started looking back in sunny Essex and saw this. It’s in an area I haven’t actually lived in before so not Brentwood! but it’s really nice because it’s all fields and really peaceful.” Chloe admits that her past self was almost consumed by the pursuit of perfection, revealing she once had the “strictest gym routine and diet” in the UK, which involved meticulous meal preps and sticking to low-calorie foods.

Now, the reality TV veteren embraces a “complete opposite” lifestyle, feeling confident in her own skin. “It was so rare that I’d say, ‘You know what, I’m going to have pie and mash,’ because I’d just think, ‘I can’t, I’ve worked so hard in the gym and I need to look a certain way.'”.

Viewers of House Of Sims, which initially streamed on OFTV before moving to Netflix, saw Chloe make the move to the States alongside her brother Charlie, 32, and her sisters Frankie, 29, and Demi, 27. However, season one witnessed the breakdown of the women’s relationships and Chloe’s sisters subsequently returned to Essex.

This resulted in uncomfortable filming and viewing for Chloe, who confesses she isn’t proud of how she managed the fallout. One particularly heated argument saw Chloe lose her temper with her sisters and storm off the set in tears.”I always strive to be the best person I can, but it’s tough not to react when you feel you’re being deceived. But I still regret reacting the way I did,” she concedes.

“Those situations are awful and I remember in TOWIE I used to try so hard not to get embroiled in dramas. Arguing with my sisters really affected me. They’re family and the last people I expected to have a falling out with. Obviously, I regretted my actions because I don’t want to be in that headspace, all stressed out and arguing. I just want a nice, easy life.”

Chloe insists she hasn’t let the breakdown of her relationship with Frankie and Demi affect her daughter’s bond with them. In fact, she discloses, Maddie stayed at Frankie’s flat just last week. “It hasn’t trickled down to Madison. I’ve always kept it like that. Even when I was on TOWIE and she was on set but not filming, she’d walk up to my worst enemy and say, ‘Hi, how are you? ‘ and they’d just go along with it apart from one person! So she hasn’t been dragged into the argument with my sisters, and that’s good.”

One family member Chloe is still incredibly close to is her cousin Joey Essex, 33, who has been making headlines since entering the Love Island villa. He didn’t tell Chloe he was joining the ITV show but she was aware of his other new reality project. There have been rumours that Joey’s joining the cast of Netflix’s Selling Sunset, which focuses on The Oppenheim Group’s glamorous realtors and Chloe confirms that the rumours are 100% true.

“He stayed with me in LA for six weeks while he filmed,” she reveals. “He took Maddie’s room while she was out of town and made himself comfortable! I loved having him it was good to have quality time with him.” Six weeks later, Chloe opened her Instagram account and saw Joey was the Love Island villa’s latest housemate.

“I was completely shocked! Then I realised his agent had actually reached out and sent me a text pre-written by Joey. I was absolutely fuming because I thought, ‘I can’t watch this in the US,’ and I really want to watch because he’s there, and because I love Love Island! “. Chloe’s now fully caught up and is watching it at home in real time like the rest of the UK with her nan beside her. So what does she make of her cousin’s antics so far?

“Well, I think we know why he’s single,” she says, bursting out laughing. “I know how much he wants to settle down and he’s definitely looking for love, but I think he thinks, ‘The grass is always greener’. We were so excited by the Grace [Jackson] situation, so when the recoupling [with Jessy Potts] happened, I was speechless. I hope Joey proves everyone wrong. And they stop putting women in there who he knows, so he can just blossom. He’s my cousin so I’m biased, but would the show be as interesting without him in it? I don’t think so.”
