Fans of Liam Gallagher couldn’t contain their excitement when the former Oasis frontman announced that he was set to perform live at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena.

But the hugely anticipated live gig was left in a state of chaos following a blunder at the ticket office of the venue. According to an eye-witness, fans were left in tears as some were turned away from watching the infamous front man, 51, swagger on stage as they bought tickets to stand in the arena – but were told they were underage.

A source exclusively told the Mirror: “There was absolute chaos, fans were left stunned at the box office when they were told they hadn’t been sent down.” The added: “One fan who was only 16 years old was with her parents and was left in tears when she was turned away at the doors for being under age to be on the standing floor. Stewards at the door said it was venue policy but fan services refused to back down despite the fan and her family showing proof.”

The tour, named after the Definitely Maybe album, celebrates it’s 30th anniversary this year and the album was the fastest selling debut album on UK release, generating anthems including Live Forever and Cigarettes and Alcohol. During the concert, clips from Oasis’ hey day played on the large screens along with magazine covers and newspaper headlines, before Liam sauntered on stage to belt out Rock ‘n’Roll Star. Standing on stage in front of more than 23,000 people he then sang Up in the Sky and Digsy’s Dinner, which are tracks that have rarely been performed since the mid nineties.

Despite his on-going feud Noel, Liam paid tribute to Noel by singing Half The World Away and according to reports, the crowd embarked on a huge sing-along, which was a first in the night. The set of the 1994 album was aimed at making an homage of the nostalgia of that period. Making reference to the venue’s delay in opening following a few teething problems, he told the crowd: “This is a nice building, innit. Slagging it off and all that on GMTV a couple of weeks ago.”

The much awaited Oasis reunion rumours gathered momentum after a fan spotted a “Reserved for Noel Gallagher” sign at the gig on Monday June 10. Oasis last took to the stage together back in 2009 but after a huge bust up in Paris Noel announced he “simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer”. But now fans have been left excited as they posted a photo of his 02 reservation seat. One person, who took to X at the time, said: “I’m in a hospitality box at #LiamGallagher and I’ve just seen this on a seat in front of mine.”
