The 29-year-old singer, who also appeared on MTV’s Geordie Shore, informed her followers that she’d been “admitted to hospital” and wouldn’t be gracing the stage at the Sunderland Food and Drink Festival. She wrote: “Hello everyone, after a really tough week of being severely unwell, I have never felt like this in my life. I have been admitted into hospital with an underlying infection.”

“I am so sorry that I won’t be able to perform tomorrow evening. I love performing and am absolutely gutted I can’t be there tomorrow but I know I’m in the best place,” added Amelia. Amelia, who lives with diabetes, returned to social media on Sunday, 9 June, to share another update with her fans.

She disclosed that she’d finally received a diagnosis and was now recuperating at home after being discharged from the hospital. “I was discharged last night and am back home, have to go back in the morning for some blood but I am on the mend. She detailed her ordeal: “I felt pain in my lower back at the start of the week and tried for three days to get into my doctors, but they were not taking any more appointments or e-consults which resulted into my vomiting and having the migraine and a fever, but with me being diabetic things can get a little more complicated as you can imagine.”

Wrapping up her update, the 29-year-old expressed relief that “nothing else” had shown up on scans and extended heartfelt thanks to the hospital staff. She shared: “I’ve also had an ultrasound on my kidneys and good news nothing else has showed up. I just want to say a massive thank you for all the wonderful staff on ward 37 at James Cook Hospital who looked after me and gave me the best care. I admire each and every single one of you how hard you all work.”

Amelia first gained public attention on The X Factor in 2011, securing third place. She later appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017 and joined the cast of Geordie Shore in 2020, participating in two seasons.
