Emily Atack ‘over the moon’ as she announces pregnancy with first child

Emily Atack is pregnant with her first child.

The Inbetweeners actress is five months pregnant and will become a mum in the new year, the comedian has announced. The 34-year-old is thought to be “over the moon” after the mum-to-be found love with her boyfriend Dr Alistair Garner.

They’re reportedly arranging their home and preparing for the little one’s arrival in April next year. “Emily is delighted by the happy news and has been pleased to tell family and close friends about her little one on the way. It’s the perfect end to her year and she feels over the moon,” claimed a source close to the well-known E4 personality.

Emily announced the news herself in an Instagram post on Saturday night, posing a photo of her growing baby bump. She penned alongside the snap: “Hello Everyone, it’s been a little while but I’m back with some news. I’m delighted to share with you all that we’re having a baby!! I’ve never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time.

“Please go easy on me. Every day is mixed with thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting – a bit like when you’ve just stepped off of the Oblivion at Alton Towers on a hangover. I’ve got to know my body on such an insane level.

“It’s made me appreciate the one I’ve been given SO much, I’m doing my absolute best to make it a home for the little squid I’m growing. We can already sense the baby is reclined on a mattress of peanut butter and jam sandwiches in there, demanding more chocolate buttons. I’m so happy to be writing all of this to you all. You’ve always stuck by me through the years, do stick around to watch me enter my mum era. Christ. Let’s go.”

“Emily is more than ready to be a mum and it is something she has dreamed of her whole life,” a pal told The Sun. “Her relationship with Alistair has gone from strength to strength and they’ve moved into together. Family is everything to her — she comes from a big one herself and is really close to all her siblings — so she can’t wait to start one of her own. They’ve all rallied around her and delighted in the joyous occasion.”

Fans and friends flocked to Emily’s announcement on Instagram, sending their well wishes to the happy couple. With one writing: “Best news ever you are doing amazing and will continue to be amazing because you are an amazing person and can’t wait to see little Squid.”

Another joked: “Will Mackenzie has finally delivered.” While someone else said: “who gonna be da best mumma? Emily gonna be da best mumma….” A third responded: “Yay What great news Emily and fam. So much to look forward too. You will make an amazing mama.”

It comes only days after Emily returned to social media after taking a break following a “hell of a year”. She took to her Instagram account to say she would be “taking time away” from the platform over the Christmas period. However, Emily couldn’t help but make a return to the platform after just 48 hours away. The comedian and actress took to her account to share an adorable photo of her dog tucked up in bed.

She made a comeback to her Instagram Stories to share two snaps of her dog snuggled in white bedding on December 22. Emily wrote: “Someone’s out of office is on.” Earlier in the week the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star celebrated her 34th birthday. Addressing her 1.9m followers, she shared a post to her Instagram Story of her sticking her tongue out, wearing a birthday tiara.

Sweeping her blonde hair back in a sleek bun, she thanked people for their birthday wishes and wrote: “Thanks for the birthday love yesterday everybody. I’ve been quiet on here recently and focusing on actual real life, working hard and having some time away from social after a helluva year. But I’ll be back properly soon. Hope you are all living your best hungover lives and getting ready for the family rows and deflated wobbly blow up beds.”

Emily had been posting updates on her Instagram Story, but her last grid post was in October, showing her holiday in Sicily. She has been open about the impact of social media before and how she has suffered from trolling. The 34-year-old also made a BBC documentary looking at unsolicited harassment from men online.

She recently hit back at a cruel troll who branded her attention seeking after she shared a photo of herself getting her hair done. Emily showed off her blow-dry, and wrote: “Big and bouncy. So is the hair. Thank you gang.” The Celebrity Juice star was flooded with gushing comments however one vile troll said: “And then you wonder why trolls pick you up, why would you say that if you don’t like that sort of attention?”
