Italy has hailed a 79-year-old celebrity photographer as the last of the true paparazzi after he was allegedly punched by the French actor Gerard Dépardieu during an altercation over a photo.
Rino Barillari was taken to hospital with blood dripping from a head wound after he and a witness said Dépardieu, 75, repeatedly punched him when he was photographed by the man known in Italy as “the King of the Paparazzi”.
Barillari started taking photos of Dépardieu as the actor had lunch with friends at an outside table at Harry’s Bar in Rome, where the menu features oysters and caviar.
