Jonnie Irwin joked about the struggles he went through to assemble furniture in a new post.

The A Place in the Sun presenter – who was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 – took to social media to share a picture of himself wearing a head torch as he quipped about ‘getting old’. The star needed the extra light to help him with his mini home renovation project.

“You know when you’re getting old when you need to wear a head torch to assemble furniture..!” the 50-year-old said. Fans rushed to the comment section to compliment the star and joke about the headgear, with one user saying: “You look so well and makes me happy for you.”

“Not sure what you’re doing, but you’re doing it right! You look great!” another commented while one posted: “You look great! And don’t worry, I use goggles to chop onions.”

An emotional user told the presenter: “Looking very well Jonnie ..so wonderful to see. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas xx.” Another said something similar and posted: “You look great! Thinking of you & wishing you well. Happy Holidays to your beautiful family.”

Earlier this month, Jonnie provided fans with a health update in a new Instagram post. The star previously revealed his cancer had tragically spread from his lung to his brain last year after initially being diagnosed in 2020. The property guru was given just six months to live but has been keeping positive and continued fighting while providing updates.

In a recent post, the Escape to the Country star shared a snap of himself using a new at-home physiotherapy machine while watching a Spurs game in his living room. It aims to stimulate muscle movement and maintain muscle strength. The wires were attached to his thighs.

Jonnie wrote in the caption: “Trying out my @enovis_uk_ireland machine whilst watching Spurs come good as I hoped they would. For me especially this was a ‘pulsating win’ Keeping my joy on the DL as Mrs I not very happy.”

Fans rushed to the comment section to provide words of encouragement and some praised him for keeping a positive attitude. One user said: “Keep doing the positive vibes, it’s working a treat in you,” while another posted: “Go on Johnny you keep trying everything! My god that’s what I call a fighter, don’t give up for one minute… You are so beautiful. Inside and out. What a gem.”
