I’m A Celeb’s Josie to miss out on reunion with son as loved ones enter camp

The remaining campmates are set to get an emotional visit in the jungle from their loved ones today – but Josie Gibson will miss out on seeing her son Reggie.

In previous series, the celebrities have had a camp visit from members of their family. In 2018 viewers were in tears as Harry Redknapp’s wife Sandra came into camp and he told her “I don’t wanna let you go,” as he cuddled and kissed her.

On Friday morning, when actor Danielle Harold was evicted and came back into the hotel where all the friends and family are staying, there were a number of people noticeably absent from the usual welcome party. They included Rochelle Humes, wife of Marvin and Pete Wicks, the best friend of Sam Thompson.

Josie’s son Reggie was also not seen in reception where he normally is waiting to greet other contestants with Josie’s best friend Mia Williams.

It is understood ITV may have been planning for the loved ones to go into camp as a surprise for the remaining five contestants. But ITV has strict health and safety laws about using the footbridges and going into camp.

This would rule out a five-year-old being able to go in. Instead, it is thought Mia would be the one to greet Josie in camp.

A show source said: “Getting the loved ones into camp as a surprise always makes for great footage. The letters from home are emotional but seeing them reunited is even better. It is a real shame Reggie is not allowed into camp but hopefully for Rosie her friend Mia can reassure her what a great time Reggie is having in Australia if he is not allowed in.

“It should make for some great footage on Friday’s show.” Tony Bellew’s wife Rachael was also absent from the hotel in the morning, so she may also have had an emotional reunion.

Nigel Farage would have two options with either his girlfriend Laure Ferrari or his daughter Izzy going into camp to spend time with him. The emotional scenes are expected to be played out on Friday night’s show before the next eviction. Josie has admitted on screen she is struggling in camp and really missing her son. Danielle Harold promised to pass on hugs for her when she left.

Sam Thompson remains the odds-on favourite to be crowned king of the jungle on Sunday.
