A$AP Rocky dressed in Bottega Veneta and went out in public to attract the paparazzi, which resulted in a one-of-a-kind fashion campaign Bottega Veneta’s recent creative direction from Matthieu Blazy has expanded the brand’s boundaries for creative expression. These are reflected in the brand’s pre-spring 2024 campaign, starring American rapper A$AP Rocky. The campaign is especially singular as it didn’t involve a professional photographer but instead used real paparazzi shots to showcase the collection. In the campaign, A$AP Rocky was photographed on different occasions and seen rocking some of Bottega Veneta’s pre-spring 2024 pieces. First, Rocky wore a yellow-black checked sweater and leather pants while carrying a Bottega Veneta Large Andiamo bag. On another occasion, he appeared in the house’s neutral jacket and pants. Regarding these shots, Rocky stated that he was not the kind of celebrity who doesn’t enjoy being snapped by the street shutterbugs as long as they had the right angle. In an Instagram post, the star said: “So, in good light of good angled photos, myself and the creative minds of Bottega Veneta thought it would be genius to bridge that gap and utilize my everyday lifestyle type of photos taken by candid photographers while I do my everyday thing. So this serves less as a campaign and more as a creative trifecta brought to you by Bottega Veneta’s Matthieu Blazy, myself A$AP Rocky and the talented tabloid-style photographers involved.” Though new for Bottega Veneta, this campaign direction has apparently been tried first by Gucci, who tapped Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny to star in the Valigeria campaign. The only difference is that it was situated in an airport and shot by Anthony Seklaoui, who is actually a renowned fashion photographer notable for his works for other high-end fashion clientele.
