Dianne Buswell has given a glimpse into her life off the dancefloor, admitting things haven’t been easy for her.

The professional dancer has been partnered with EastEnders star Bobby Brazier, 20, for the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing. They started as favourites to take home the Glitterball trophy and have won over a legion of fans in the process. Yet away from the show Dianne has been struggling.

In October, the Australian Strictly star shared the news that her dad Mark was ill after fans noticed she appeared visibly down on an episode the glitzy BBC reality series. She explained during an Instagram Q&A with Bobby that she had been “obviously affected” by the news before asking her followers to send her father a “little thought or prayer.”

Dianne, 34, recently shared how Bobby has been supporting her. She told Heat Magazine: “I am such a hard-working, crazy dancer that it’s been a really nice balance, where Bobby has brought a lot of calmness into my life. There has been quite a lot of going on in my personal life over these past few months, and Bobby has been really realistic and supportive, telling me everything’s going to be OK. It’s crazy that such a young guy can have such a good mind on him.”

She had sparked concern from fans with her tearful comments where she called Bobby her “rock” after going through an “emotional week”. Dianne later decided to address the worry from fans as she said: “I thought I would be very upfront and honest with you all. Last week I got some news about my dad’s health and I won’t go into detail, but obviously, that affected me.

“Being away from home and not being able to support and help your family in a time of need is quite a difficult thing so I did struggle a little bit last week in terms of that.” Dianne’s sad news came after she posted a cryptic message on her Instagram where she hinted there was more to the story. The picture showed a large circle, which was labelled “someone’s life”, with a smaller circle showing how much those on the outside “know about it”. Above the image was the text: “Why you should be kind to people.”

Earlier this month, Dianne shared her father had started chemotherapy. Dianne, who is originally from Bunbury, a coastal town outside of Perth, posted a photo of a smiling Mark lying in a hospital bed and waving at the camera. “I’m so proud of you dad,” Dianne captioned the picture. “First round of chemotherapy today ! i wish i could be there to hold your hand and support you in person… but i do know that i’m making you so proud over here in my concert every week ! the Australian nurses and drs are now very aware of strictly come dancing as my dad won’t stop talking about it.”

She signed off the touching message with the encouraging words, “you can do this daddy” and a helping of x’s for kisses. The Aussie choreographer, who is dating Joe Sugg, also called Mark her ‘hero’ in an Instagram Story.
