Britney Spears’ fans fear she’s suffering from a rare psychiatric condition

Britney Spears’ fans think that she could be suffering from a little-known psychiatric condition after a slew of tell-tale signs on her social media posts.

Toxic singer Britney, 41, was famously freed from her 13-year-long conservatorship in 2021. But since getting freed from it, fans have been concerned for the hitmaker.

Since being freed from her conservatorship, Britney has shared more and more posts on her Instagram account. Oftentimes, the singer can be seen dancing around in racy outfits, or even stripping off completely for nude displays.

And recently, Britney’s posts have increased, with her dancing around in very little clothing, which has sparked concern among her loyal legion of fans. One campaign group has even voiced suspicions that Britney may be suffering from a psychiatric condition where patients are “unable to remain still”.

The Akathisia Alliance for Education and Research has taken to Twitter, which is now known as X, to speculate over Britney’s mental state. Sharing a video of the popstar, they penned a caption which read: “Since pop star, Britney Spears’ discharge from a mental health facility in 2019, many of her 47 million Instagram followers have wondered ‘what went wrong,’ why ‘she seems much worse than ever before,’ and why she ‘can’t ever stay still’.

“Please watch our latest video for evidence that medication-induced #akathisia may be at least partially to blame, and share it so that it may reach people who can help Britney.”

Replying to the tweet, one person penned: “This makes sense and explains much of her irratic [sic] behavior.” However others urged them not to comment on Britney’s health, with one person writing: “Leave Britney alone.” While a third penned: “I’ve never seen any videos of her acting like she has Akathisia but I just am not into Spears. Yes, it’s terrible but unless you talk to her you won’t know if she had restlessness, inability to sit still, pacing, etc. How can anyone know these things?”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Akathisia is “an inability to remain physically still”. Their website notes: “It’s a movement disorder that’s linked to certain types of medications, especially antipsychotic medications. People with akathisia feel an intense and uncontrollable need to move — mainly, their lower body.”
