Fans of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here might not be surprised by the news that Jamie Lynn Spears has quit the jungle – but they might be surprised it took her so long to walk.
The 32-year-old American star – who is most famous for being the younger sister of music superstar Britney Spears, 41 – was one of the original campmates to enter the I’m A Celeb camp as part of the 2023 season. But the star is a changed woman since she jetted to Australia in the middle of November to take part in the show.
Jamie Lynn was all smiles when she arrived at Brisbane Airport on November 14 – waving to photographers and fans who met her at the airport. The star was spotted with her long blonde hair draped from beneath a cap as she arrived, and she landed wearing a simple black jumper, and a red dress and had her bronzed, toned legs on display.
Before entering the jungle four days later, Jamie Lynn explained that she was hoping viewers would get to see the real her – after she and Britney tore chunks out of each other via their respective autobiographies that were released in the months running up to the 2023 season of the show. She said: “There is literally every misconception you can have on a person about me so I don’t take any of it seriously.

“But I do think going on I’m A Celebrity will be a nice way for people to see the real me. This is an opportunity to be myself and do something really cool and have some awesome experiences in the meantime.”
The American star went on to declare that she was resilient and would be able to face any of the challenges or trials that were ahead of her. She declared: “I think my best quality is the fact that it takes a lot to hurt my feelings.
“Unless you are my children or my immediate family, nothing is going to hurt me. I can take a lot of s***and it doesn’t get me down, so I really think it’s a good quality to have in a place where a lot of stuff is thrown at you!”
Viewers watched the star crumble early in the contest, however, as being so far from her two daughters was playing on her mind while she was in the I’m A Celeb camp. Jamie Lynn is married to 41-year-old businessman Jamie Watson with whom she shares a five-year-old daughter named Ivey Joan. She also has a 15-year-old daughter named Maddie who she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Casey Aldridge.

Viewers grew concerned for Jamie Lynn just hours after she began her time on the show as she appeared to isolate herself away from the other contestants. A source warned The Sun at the time: “Away from the cameras and scenes that aired on TV, it’s her behaviour in the camp that has become obvious to the crew. She has kept herself somewhat separate, not really socialising — and stayed in bed.”
And then just four days into the season, there were fears Jamie Lynn could quit as she pined for her family. Following the failure of a task, she explained her frustrations in the Bush Telegraph: “I feel guilty this is not okay. I want to go home… why did you put them through that?” She then went back to camp and told the other campmates: “I went to tell them this is not fair. I quit. I don’t wanna do it, I don’t wanna be here, that’s so unfair that was torture. F**k this.” As her co-stars comforted her she said: “I just wanna see my kids that’s it, I am struggling.”
After ten days in the camp, Jamie Lynn appeared to reach the end of her tether as a chocolate reward left her pining for life on the outside, and her thoughts turned to her family. She declared on the show: “That little square of chocolate p*****d me off… I probably should have just let someone eat it. I feel a little better maybe. I just needed to cry.” And soon after, she declared: “I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate this place, it is where people go to have the worst days of their lives. Dear God, please help me make it. I think I have got to leave. Just a friendly reminder of how much it sucks here.”
The following day, Jamie Lynn’s exit was announced by ITV, with a show spokesperson saying on Wednesday: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.”
Leaving the jungle, Jamie Lynn looks less upbeat and healthy than she did before. All the campmates have seen their body weight drop as they have been forced to get by on basic rations many nights – and have been put to the test through physically and mentally demanding tasks. Jamie Lynn had been reduced to tears several times during her time on the show – and was left looking tired and drained as a result.
